Department of Excise

Office of  the Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Kolar district is located in DC office Compound. There are 3 sub divisions in the district with Deputy Superintendent of Excise as the head. There are 11 excise range offices with one Inspector of Excise as the head.

Major role of the Department

Collection of excise revenue such as arrack duty, shop rentals and old excise arrears

Control over illegal activities

Issue of IML, RS, DD2 and other excise licences

Inspection of shops to prevent leakage of Govt. revenue.

Disposal of property seized in excise offences.
